About

My name is James Cormier, and I’m a motorcyclist.

I’ve been riding motorcycles since 1983. Over the years I’ve owned more than 30 motorcycles and logged well over 700,000 miles exploring the roads, backroads, and hidden corners of New England and the East Coast.

My motorcycles have ranged from small Honda scramblers and two-stroke sport bikes to Ducati superbikes, adventure bikes, and full-size touring machines. I’ve traveled on everything from lightweight dual sports to big touring rigs, proving that the journey matters far more than the motorcycle beneath you.

One of my personal goals was to ride every numbered highway in New England, a challenge that allowed me to discover countless scenic roads, historic towns, mountain passes, and hidden gems that many riders pass by without ever knowing they’re there. Even today, I’m still exploring and finding new places to ride.

My passion for motorcycles, adventure, camping, road trips, and the incredible region we call home became the foundation for New England Sport Touring.

NEST was created to bring together riders who enjoy exploring, whether that’s a Sunday morning ride for breakfast, a weekend camping trip, a cross-country adventure, or a multi-day journey on dirt, gravel, and pavement. We welcome all motorcycles, all riding styles, and riders of all experience levels.

At its heart, New England Sport Touring is about great roads, great destinations, and great people.

So grab your helmet, fuel up the bike, and come ride with us.

Life’s an Adventure. Ride It.

Why We Ride

I ride for many reasons, but the most important one is that I don’t need a reason to ride.

Just being on a motorcycle is enough. The wind flowing through my helmet, the sound of the engine beneath me, and the road stretching endlessly ahead is all I need. Riding is fun, and for me, that’s reason enough.

Sure, motorcycles are practical. They use less fuel than most cars, take up less space on the road, help ease traffic congestion, and have a smaller environmental footprint. There are certainly people who ride for those reasons alone.

But if you’re spending time on a motorcycle forum, planning weekend rides, exploring back roads, or crossing state lines just to discover a new road or a great lunch spot, chances are practicality isn’t what brought you here.

Motorcycling is a passion.

It’s the excitement of discovering a road you’ve never traveled before. It’s watching the seasons change from behind a windshield. It’s sharing stories around a campfire after a long day in the saddle. It’s the friendships built through a common love of two wheels and the adventures they make possible.

For some, it’s a hobby. For others, it’s a lifestyle. For many of us, it’s simply part of who we are.

That’s what New England Sport Touring is all about.

What is Sport Touring?

So this website is called New England Sport Touring, you’ve figured out the New England part, but what is a sport Touring bike? The easy answer is a motorcycle built with the engine of a sport bike and the wind protection and comfort of a touring bike. Sounds perfect doesn’t it? If you do a quick Google search you will see bikes like Yamaha FJR, Kawasaki Concours or BMW K1200 and so on. While all those bikes do qualify as a sport touring bike I would suggest that it goes a lot deeper than that.

group ride

It’s more of a type of riding than the bike itself. Do you have to ride fast? Do you have to ride far? Or both at the same time? No and yes, its all what you make of it and how you want to ride.

What Is This Site All About?

There are several reasons why I decided to create New England Sport Touring, but perhaps the biggest is to share my adventures with other riders.

Over the years, I’ve traveled thousands of miles throughout New England, the East Coast, and beyond. In October of 2004, I purchased my first digital camera and began documenting my rides with photographs. Before long, it felt natural to start writing about the places I visited, the roads I discovered, the people I met, and the experiences that made each trip memorable.

Those ride reports quickly became one of my favorite parts of motorcycling. Not only do they allow me to relive some incredible adventures, but they also give me the opportunity to share those experiences with fellow riders who may be looking for new destinations, new roads, or simply a good story to enjoy with a cup of coffee.

This website has grown into much more than a collection of ride reports. It has become a place where riders can share routes, discover new roads, find camping destinations, download GPX tracks, learn about upcoming events, and connect with others who share a passion for motorcycles and exploring New England.

Whether you’re here to read a trip report, find your next adventure, or simply spend a few minutes daydreaming about the open road, I hope you find something that inspires you to get out and ride.

If you enjoy a story, a route, or a photograph, please take a moment to leave a comment. Hearing from other riders has always been one of the most rewarding parts of sharing these adventures.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to see you somewhere down the road.

Life’s an Adventure. Ride It.
